I grew up on Buffy, I wanted to write because of it. I love the style of dialogue and the epic world and character building. I even did an interview for the Industry section of my Writing for Script and Screen MA with Jane Espenson! I wanted to be a screen writer because of a TV show that has been off air for over 20 years with no hope of its return, now it’s back with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gail Berman and Marti Noxon at the helm and an awesome director Chloe Zhao and producer duo Nora & Lilla Zuckman, all ready to create further stories for this all consuming narrative that I know so well it shaped me, and I’m a highly qualified screenwriter. What are the chances!!??
Probably about as likely as me actually getting staffed on Buffy.
So we looked into how I might go about it…

I need my portfolio to include: Bio, CV, Buffy Spec Script and Original Idea Script.
I’ve got everything together except the Buffy spec script – I had been planning to write a Strange New World’s or Lower Decks spec script, but I think I should prioritise the Buffy one now. I have two original idea TV sci-fi/fantasy scripts, but both need new versions. I need to restructure Somewhen BCE so it paces well as an hour sci-fi (rather than a half hour comedy) for a producer who’s interested in making it. And I want to write an updated version of The Divergents to make it less similar to Extra-ordinary (Moran 2023), which came out just as I was pitching The Divergents.
As well as my portfolio, I plan to apply for writing fellowships to gain validation in the television writing community, including the upcoming Sundance Episodic Lab. And ideally I’d already have representation, which I’m working on!
