This has been the most difficult week so far. I think I may have writer’s block and it’s made me realise that I’ve never managed to finish a project I’ve started (unless I was being paid for the project to be finished on a deadline). So now is more important than ever to push through the hump. This is why I started this course, to become a better writer who has the dedication and ability to see a project through to the end.
As I researched the kickstarter projects, I could tell very quickly what works and what doesn’t, however when I tried to apply that to my own project I felt a tad lost. I’m worried that my story has transformed so much from its original objective, that it no longer tells the story I was aiming to tell. Either way, I think that in order to start writing my writer’s statement, it may be pertinent to go back over the first few weeks and try to remember my project’s origins.
Often when you get lost the best thing to do is retrace your steps, so back I go. Hopefully I will be re-inspired and able to write my statement by the end of next week. In the meantime I’ve been going over my notes for the script and trying to think of ways to incorporate the elements it’s currently missing. It’s also important I do enough research into my supporting characters, especially when writing any dialogue for the paramedics and 999 response team.
